Since it is Memorial Day and most of you probably have the day off from work, you might be thinking about your summer reading list. Maybe you’re traveling somewhere this summer and need something to read in the airport, or you might just want a book when you’re sitting on your patio on a beautiful summer night.
You came to the right place today because I have spoken to 10 thoughtful Christians, and I asked them to answer a question for me. “Can you please give me one fiction book and one nonfiction book that every Christian ought to read?” In order to receive a variety of answers, I did ask that the Bible was not chosen since it is clearly the most important nonfiction book for any Christian to read. It wouldn’t be a very exciting list if 50% of the answers were identical.
Without further ado, here are the recommendations (but be sure to read to the bottom of the post as I have another announcement to make)!
I hope this list is of great use to you as you plan your summer literary endeavors.
If you need even more books to read, I have you covered. I have authored an e-book entitled 50 Books Every Christian Should Read, and you can get it for free! All you have to do is subscribe to my newsletter, and you will automatically receive an email with a link to download a copy of this resource. You will find a few of the books from this list in my e-book (which I wrote before I spoke to these excellent guests), but you are also going to find some rather nontraditional choices that nevertheless are valuable for Christians to think about. I provide a short justification as to why I found each book valuable, and I think that you will benefit from stretching your literary horizons.
If you haven’t subscribed to the newsletter, please do, and happy reading!
