I started this blog approximately two years ago, and I appreciate all of you who have come along for the ride. It has been a lot of fun, and I think that we have had some really exciting things happen as a result of this adventure. However, two years is a long time to do the same thing, so I have a few changes that are coming down the pipeline starting this week that I want to let you know about.
First, this only applies to those of you who are my personal friends on Facebook, but I am very sparingly going to be sharing my own work on my personal page. Everything is now going to be channeled through our Facebook group. If you are not a part of it yet, you should join. I’m mainly doing this to streamline any discussions I might have about what I write.
Second, and this is a bigger, structural change, but you might realize that I like to write on one theme every week. What you don’t know is that I generally sit down on Saturday and write one article which I then divide into three parts. It is basically one long work divided. While that certainly has some benefits in terms of traffic and having a lot of individual works on my website, I realize that sometimes people might only read one part of my argument, and if they do not read all three of them, my work might not make sense in isolation.
As a result, I am going to publish one longform piece every week. It will come out on Monday, and I will probably throw it in the Facebook group on Wednesday and Friday as well just as a reminder. I think this will allow people to actually see my entire argument developed. Also, most of the summer is going to be dedicated to G.K. Chesterton, and you can’t really say very much about him in short pieces. Longform suits any analysis of his work better anyway.
As a result, I am going to try this over the summer. It may go well, and I may maintain this one long piece per week rather than one long piece divided into three shorter pieces. After the summer, I may decide to transition back. I’m not sure, but I think for the time being, this is a positive change. I hope you do as well.
If you have any feedback, feel free to contact me, and I hope you enjoy what is coming down the pipeline!
